Rose’s Spurs stint
Rose has been on Tottenham’s books since all the way back in 2007, with the last couple of seasons prior to 2019/20 having seen the full-back cement a regular spot for himself in the north London outfit’s backline.
However, the arrival of Jose Mourinho in the Tottenham dugout saw the Englishman fall dramatically down the left-back pecking order.
This led to the now 30-year-old departing Spurs for Newcastle on loan in January.
Rose would feature fairly heavily for the Magpies, notching 13 appearances in the second half of the season.
Rose eyeing Tottenham exit
Rose has since returned to Tottenham, though, and he appears to be still very much down the pecking order of Jose Mourinho and co.
The Evening Standard claim that Rose has not featured for Spurs at all during pre-season and has fallen down to fourth in the pecking order, with 18-year-old Dennis Cirkin, who started against Watford this past weekend, understood to be above the veteran.
It is added that the Englishman is desperate for regular football this season in order to revive his Euro 2021 hopes.
Rose was left out of Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad despite injuries to Ben Chilwell and Luke Shaw.
In terms of potential suitors for Rose, Newcastle appear to have turned their attentions elsewhere with Jamal Lewis expected to make the switch to St James’ Park soon.
And as per the ES, the Lilywhites believe it will be tough to find a suitable Premier League buyer for Rose
However, he is believed to be open to a move overseas and was apparently keen to join Inter Milan back in January.
