As confirmed by a host of reliable sources online this evening, Premier League giants Chelsea have reached an agreement with Stade Rennais over the signing of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Ongoings at Stamford Bridge have of course proven one of the talking points of world football over recent weeks.
This comes with the Blues currently in the midst of a remarkable recruitment drive.
On the back of a pair of transfer windows without a single signing, Chelsea have already secured 6 high-profile additions ahead of the new season.
After clinching deals for both Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner before the summer window had even officially opened, the last week of August saw all of Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva follow suit.
And, in the Londoners’ biggest summer outlay yet, the long-anticipated arrival of Kai Havertz was finally made official this day last week.
The German prodigy put pen-to-paper on a 5-year deal at Stamford Bridge, in a deal worth a rumoured £70 million.
Mendy on the way
Whilst such reinforcements will, for obvious reasons, no doubt result in Chelsea proving a markedly improved side next season, one area which remains a major source of concern at Stamford Bridge comes between the posts.
On the back of a hugely underwhelming campaign on the part of current no.1 Kepa Arrizabalaga, the Blues, in turn, have been tipped to swoop for a whole host of shot-stoppers.
To this point, though, no such move has come to fruition.
But, as outlined above, if the latest word emerging from the media over the last couple of hours is to be believed, then Chelsea’s goalkeeper search finally looks set to bear fruit, and imminently.
As confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, along with a host of others, the Londoners have struck a deal with Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais, over the signing of Edouard Mendy.
28-year-old Senegalese international Mendy is already thought to have agreed to the personal terms of a contract in southwest London, with a medical booked for the coming days:

An insight into the fee agreed between the clubs, meanwhile, has also been forthcoming.
As first reported by Get French Football News, the ‘total package’, including bonuses, for Mendy, comes in at around €28 million:
Hugo Lloris to Tottenham from Lyon in 2012 was for an initial €10m, bonuses reaching up to €15m. Édouard Mendy will be joining for a total package of €28m.

Others, however, have suggested that the figure is in fact closer to €22 million:
Journalists on the Rennes beat suggest total fee #CFC have agreed for Édouard Mendy is €22m (about £20.4m.
