Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided a fitness update on his squad, ahead of their fast-approaching meeting with Leeds United.

Champions back in action

Klopp’s men are of course set to get the defence of their Premier League title underway this weekend.

After dazzling en route to the club’s first title in 30 years last time out, the Reds will welcome Leeds United to Anfield tomorrow evening.

Liverpool will actually head into proceedings in search of a bounce-back result, having fallen to defeat in their last competitive outing, a Community Shield meeting with Arsenal late last month.

Leeds, though, will prove no pushovers, with Marcelo Bielsa’s outfit of course still riding the high of their first return to the top-tier of English football since 2004.

The Whites have also impressed on the transfer front this summer, having added the likes of Spanish international Rodrigo and highly-regarded stopper Robin Koch to the club’s ranks.

‘Not decided’

As such, ahead of what is no doubt set to prove a testing evening for his side, Jurgen Klopp today provided a fitness update on Liverpool’s squad.

The update surrounded a trio of players, in the form of Jordan Henderson, Xherdan Shaqiri and Konstantinos Tsimikas.

Reds captain Henderson has been sidelined since June with a knee problem, with out-of-favour attacker Shaqiri also struggling for fitness.

Tsimikas, Liverpool’s solitary summer addition, meanwhile, is still being fully integrated into the club’s setup.

Klopp, though, has confirmed that all three took part in training this week. The German was less clear, however, regarding their potential participation versus Leeds:

‘Not finally decided yet.’

‘They are all in training pretty much, all of them. So we will make late decisions about that, but it looks rather promising than not.’

‘But we have in the moment a lot of players available, here in training. They all came back now, so not all of them will be involved even if they could be involved, that’s the situation.’
