Liverpool and Arsenal have been told they will have a huge talent on their hands if they sign RB Salzburg’s next-big-thing Patson Daka this summer.
The Zambian frontman has caught the eye of several big sides after impressing for the Austrian side last season. Daka netted 25 times in 39 appearances across all competitions for Salzburg. He also featured in both Champions League ties against Liverpool.
Such form has led to suggestions that both Arsenal and Liverpool are exploring a deal to sign him. Manchester United have also been credited with an interest, according to the MEN.
While much of the focus at Salzburg last season surrounded Erling Haaland and Takumi Minamino, Daka quietly went about his business.
Now the striker’s former coach at Zambian club Power Dynamos feels Daka could be the next to move on.
Dan Kabwe has also been quick to compare Daka to one of the Premier League’s best ever in Thierry Henry.
“When I saw Patson Daka, what came into my mind is this guy is the next Thierry Henry – and in no time he has proved it,” Kabwe told News Diggers.
“Where he is at Salzburg, it is a stepping stone. He has the potential to go further and meet other challenges. Daka is capable of making it (at the top level).
“He is an intelligent boy and full of talent. If the boy is already swimming in the deep end, why limit him?”
The 21-year-old is rated in the £20m bracket after the forward signed a new deal until 2024 last year.
Daka also added to his goals collection recently when he scored twice for Salzburg in a 2-2 friendly draw with Jurgen Klopp’s men recently.
Klopp abandons transfer hunt
Klopp, meanwhile, is ready to end his bid to sign a new centre-half this summer.
The Premier League champions were thought to be on look-out for a replacement for Dejan Lovren, who sealed a £10.9m move to Zenit St Petersburg.
However, with a number of potential recruits all likely to cost big money, Klopp has another plan. As per the report, the German will instead ask a trusted star to cover at the back whenever needed.
