Arsenal have this evening confirmed that Dani Ceballos has returned to the club from Real Madrid for the 2020/21 campaign.

Gunners spell

Spanish international Ceballos of course spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan in north London.

And, after a somewhat hit-and-miss start to life in the Premier League, the final months of the season saw the 24-year-old go on to establish himself as one of the Gunners’ star performers.

The arrival of Mikel Arteta proved key in Ceballos getting things back on track, with the midfielder having evidently responded positively to the teachings of his fellow countryman.

Under Arteta’s guidance, the Real Madrid loanee added a further element of bite and aggression to his game, a crucial element in Arsenal’s run to FA Cup glory last month.

All told, across his year-long stint at the Emirates, Ceballos notched 37 appearances.

As such, on the back of his stellar production over the season’s run-in, there had since unsurprisingly been widespread calls amongst Arsenal’s fanbase for Ceballos to return for the 2020/21 campaign.

And, as outlined above, the wishes of the Gunners faithful have this evening been granted.

On the back of mounting speculation over recent days that a deal was inching closer to completion, Arsenal have announced Ceballos’ move back to the club.

The Spaniard has put pen-to-paper on another season-long loan, with Real Madrid thought to have waived any fee in exchange for the north Londoners covering Ceballos’ wages in full:

Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, has since expressed his ‘delight’ at luring his fellow countryman back to the Emirates:
