Manchester United have moved a step closer to agreeing a deal for Jadon Sancho after an apparent “breakthrough in negotiations”.

Numerous outlets, including the Telegraph claim that the “impasse  over agents’ fees and wages has ended”.

That represents a huge step forward, but United of course still have to agree a fee with Borussia Dortmund, who are still believed to want £108m for the England star.

Only last week Bleacher Report claimed that United and Dortmund had agreed “to go about negotiations in a more respectful manner”.

United officials felt there was too much information being leaked to the media and so that was why the Sancho talk had gone quiet in recent weeks.

But any suggestions that a deal would be done in secret have not lasted long, because a whole number of outlets appear to have been briefed by someone close to the deal on Wednesday.

The Daily Mail claim “the two sides moving closer to an agreement”, while Goal suggest “constructive discussions” are ongoing after progress was made.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth said: “I’ve been speaking to somebody close to a potential deal involving Jadon Sancho to Manchester United and in the past 24 hours there have been developments and potentially good news for Manchester United fans, because the issues of agent fees and personal terms, I’ve been told, are no longer a problem.”

Talks to ‘accelerate’

Goal report that United are “adamant” they will not pay the €120m asking price, so the saga could still run until deadline day next month.

The 20-year-old remains a priority target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite the German club’s sporting director Michael Zorc insisting he won’t be moving anywhere this summer.

United chief Ed Woodward and the club’s transfer negotiator Matt Judge will now “accelerate talks in the coming days”, as per the Mail.

The player himself is understood to be keen on a move to United before the October 5 deadline
