Manchester City have had a fair bit of bad luck with their centre-forwards so far this season.
Gabriel Jesus would pick up an injury in City’s season-opener vs Wolves and was then sidelined for nine games.
The Brazilian has since returned to action and would rescue City a point vs title rivals, Liverpool, last week.
But as well as losing Jesus for a long period, Pep Guardiola has also been without Sergio Aguero for large parts of the campaign.
The Argentine missed the beginning of the campaign through injury and after returning in October, he picked up another issue which has seen him miss the Sky Blues’ last four outings across all competitions.
This had left Ferran Torres to deputise up top. And though the Spaniard did a decent job, Guardiola would no doubt love to have both his main centre-forwards back, especially give City face a pretty tough test in their next fixture.
Aguero stepping up return
Man City are now set to face off with Tottenham this time next week.
Said tie, of course, already has a bit of added spice due to Guardiola’s rivalry with Jose Mourinho.
But with Spurs also having a superb start to 2020/21, City really need to pick up a win next weekend. The Lilywhites are 2nd in the league and five points above the Citizens.
Ahead of the tie, the Manchester powerhouse have been handed something of a boost on the Aguero front.
As per the Daily Mail, Aguero has been training alone but is now hopeful of returning to sessions with City’s first-team squad next week.
